NewSchool & FreeStyle are the latest trends in snowsports. Boxing, railing, kicking and flat techniques & tricks can be practized in one of the many well-equipped snowparks in Salzburg's ski areas by young and older wintersport fanatics. These movements are taught by professional coaching in many SalzburgerLand skischools to all interested skiers and snowboarders according to their needs. The field of duty has undergone enormous changes in the last fews years. Once upon a time, it was enough to be a good skier to become a ski instructor but that is long gone: the requirements for the profession have changed considerably. Besides the obvious technical skiing know-how also language and social skills as well as service orientation together with authenticity are requirements for ski instructors.

Innovative instruction and formation options by the SBSSV

The SBSSV is accomodating the changing needs for ski instructors by adapting its teaching content by including entertainment and motivation modules, professional and touristic aspects as well as NewSchool, FreeRide and FreeStyle. The focus lies on movement and teaching methods where methodology and didactics of snowsports play an important role.

Instruction courses for rookies and formation courses for pros are offered by the SBSSV throughout the year. Various formation programmes regarding kids & teens, gian slalom, mogules, NewSchool & Freestyle as well as FreeRide are very popular among the participants and help to improve the participant's technical abilities enormously - besides being a sporty and delightful get-together due to the motto: more than 2,000 participants per year taking part in these SBSSV programmes cannot be totally wrong ... tendency still rising ....

Together with its members, the SalzburgerLand skischools, the SBSSV focused on seminars and workshops for skischool heads and managers as well as SBSSV trainers in autumn 2009 to prepare for the coming winter season.

Markus Ehrenberger, expert in the field of team leadership, change, personnel and project management held a speech in front of 120 SBSSV members in St. Johann i. P. in October 2009. The topic was "leadership & motivation of skischool employees". The gist was: employee and guest satisfaction are inseparable. Only satisfied skischool  employees lead to satisfied customers - both groups give recommendations and may come again.

Andreas Reiter, co-founder of the "ZTB office of the future" in Vienna, company and organisations consultant in German-speaking countries for strategic planning, product development and strategic marketing followed suite and spoke about "customer relationship in the future - target-group oriented offers in winter tourism". He emphasized that due to the current change in values - maximum emotion in minimum time - the service chain in winter tourism has to be optimized and has to function optimally including all service providers.

The final speaker of the SBSSV autumn seminar series was Martin Boller, a corporate consultant. Together with the SBSSV trainer team in charge of the instruction and formation of all SalzburgerLand ski & snowboard instructors, he compiled the pillars of successful group communication and their professional leadership which are a fundamental part of the comprehensive instruction by SBSSV officials.
